Unfortunately, Water Conservation has been a challenge this month.
We had multiple main line and minor leaks, as well as leaks and unattended free flowing water at Bungalows. The team spent many hours searching for, finding and fixing leaks to ensure the water supply was as uninterrupted as possible.
This was no easy task, and we’d like to thank the Conservation Team for their endless efforts in this regard. Thank you as well to Ruan du Preez and the Maintenance team members that assisted with some of the leaks as well.
We would like to remind everyone to please be mindful of water usage, and to report any leaks or suspected problem areas as quickly as you can. This will assist us in isolating problem areas faster, so we can repair them timeously and thus more efficiently conserve water.
Please also check your taps, hosepipes, etc. before you leave your bungalow, and especially before you leave Ingwelala - one hose left on could empty our entire water supply overnight and takes us hours and hours of hard work to find, and even longer to re-supply the water to camp!
Water Conservation is one of our top priorities, and we plan to focus on this quite heavily in the upcoming years. We have a team dedicated to this area, and we hope to make the system more reliable and efficient.
As usual, thank you to those Members who have reported leaks to us and helped us manage them quickly - we appreciate your time and effort in assisting us with Water Conservation.
When it comes to leaks, things to look out for or report to us are:
- Running water where it shouldn’t be running
- Puddles or pools of water in the road when it should be dry
- Breaks in pipes/taps, etc. at Bungalows
- Hearing running water where you don’t usually hear it
- Overflowing pans and reservoirs
