We are really excited that our trails have kicked off to a busy and successful start this month!
Thank you to everyone who has booked a walk and joined us on foot in the bush - it has been wonderful, and we look forward to many more.
There is certainly nothing quite like enjoying the bush on foot, and having the opportunity to see things from a different perspective.
Some highlights from our trails this month included the discovery of an old grinding stone on Buffelsbed, 3 elephant encounters, 4 buffalo herd encounters, 1 hyena encounter, and multiple general game and birding highlights, along with tracks and signs and some botany.
If you are wanting to join a walk, here is what you need to know:
- Bookings can be made with us (Josh or Tessa) - either call us on the radio, or ask at Reception and we will gladly come and meet with you to discuss everything.
- Walks are subject to availability and work on a first-book, first-walk basis.
- Walks will be limited to 3 walks a week, wherever possible, so it is essential to book in advance if you can.
- Walks are weather-dependent, and are subject to changes of date/time for safety reasons.
- All Members joining walks are required to sign an indemnity on the day of the walk.
- Guideline ages are 16-65 years of age, but this is dependent on the physical condition of each person, as determined by the guide. This can be discussed when making an enquiry.
- No more than 8 people can join a single walk, but groups of less than 4 are preferred for logistical reasons.
- Walks are R375 per person, which will be added to your Bungalow account.
- All walks are unique, and there is no guarantee of seeing the Big 5 (or anything!) on a walk.
- If you want to get up close and personal with the Big 5, we recommend you do it from a game viewer. Walks are not intended for close encounters, but rather for a safe, different perspective and experience. It is simply a bonus if animals move closer to us.
- We take into consideration what each group/Member is interested in, so routes and durations will change depending on each walk. Maximum duration is usually 3 hours.
- Please kindly note that if urgency requires it, walks may be cancelled or moved last-minute should the situation require it.
