The rebuild of Buffelsbed hide is an interesting story in that it was built by students during their vacation...
The old hide was demolished in no time, allowing the rebuild to begin as soon as possible. As the saying goes, many hands make light work and this has certainly was the case thanks to the efforts of André Wessels and his team.
The team consisted of five Architectural and Engineering students; André's son, a nephew and three friends. It also includes one of André's artisans.
They would start building at about 05h00 in the mornings, taking advantage of the cooler temperatures. By 11am they would break for the day, returning late afternoon at about 16h30 to work till dark.
They worked very hard in trying weather conditions on this, completing the project during their vacations over 6 months.
