Debrah was raised in Whiteseat, a community that forms part of Acornhoek. Attending school, Debrah passed Grade 11 but then exited school due to economic reasons. Debrah has two brothers, one of which is employed by a mine in Phalaborwa, and she has one sister. Before meeting Afrika, Debrah was previously married under traditional law, and has a nine year old daughter, Sothsolofoe, who is day-cared for her by her grandmother and is currently in Grade 3 at school.
Debrah is a very keen football follower, supporting Kaiser Chiefs, and enjoys playing football herself.
Previous employment included Working for Water, a government initiative, where during 2012 she was based at Satara in KNP.
Debrah’s favourate animal is the elephant, because it is the meaning of her husband, Afrika’s, surname. The marula tree tops her favourite botanical species because of the lovely jam that can be made from the fruit, and the alcoholic beverage, Amarula.
