Akani Masuku

Akani Masuku was employed on 06 September 2016 to assist the Workshop Team.

Akani knows Ingwelala through his older cousin, Moses Mzimba, who has worked at Ingwelala for many years, taking care of the swimming pool and general grounds.

Akani’s family home is in Hlukukani, close to the Manyeleti Game Reserve. As a Learner, Akani passed Grade 11, his favourate subject at school was Mathematics. He has a deep passion for wildlife and commenced his working career in Makalani, a nature reserve near Mica, training as a tracker and field guide. Akani has also worked for a construction company, operating a tip truck and a heavy-duty roller.

Apart from assisting in the Workshop, Akani does relief duties at the fuel forecourt, as and when required.

When asked about his favourate animal and tree, Akani explained that his favourate animal is a zebra, because zebras always look healthy, you never see a skinny zebra. The baobab is his favourate tree, because the sheer presence and size of the baobab in the landscape is unrivalled. In addition, the baobab provides multi medicinal value for Akani.

Onto sport, Akani is a staunch Kaizer Chiefs supporter. Football is very special to him, and he enjoys very much playing goalie for the Ingwelala & Motswari Staff Team. Akani is also a keen follower of cricket.
